Jonathan Ross replaced on The Masked Dancer as star misses final over illness

[-WATCH UK TV LIVE-]

Jonathan Ross has been judging the latest series of The Masked Dancer with fellow panellists Peter Crouch, Davina McCall and Oti Mabuse since the second outing began back in September. Unfortunately, ITV has confirmed Jonathan was unable to make the recording of this week’s epic grand final.

The Masked Dancer panellist was struck down by an illness and was unable to film this year’s final earlier this year.

Special guests Dawn French and John Bishop will be on-hand instead after they both appeared in the semi-final last week.

Saturday night’s final will see Scissors, Pearly King and Onomatopoeia take to the stage for one last bout.

Sadly, Jonathan was unable to witness the final showdown as has been confirmed in a new promotional image for the series.

Plus, Olympian Denise Lewis was unmasked as the Sea Slug in a shocking double-elimination twist.

After her reveal, Kimberley said: “I did this for my kids, they love this show.

“They have no idea. I had to pick Odd Socks, I'm a mum of three boys, that's my life.”

And Denise told the audience: “Doing the Masked Dancer was one [from the bucket list].”

“My friends all love the show and that was a real nicety to throw into the mix.

The athlete and presenter also confirmed she had joined the Sea Slug appreciation society after learning more about marine life during her time on the show.

Current theories have cemented Danny Dyer as Pearly King, Angela Griffin as Scissors and David Tennant as Onomatopoeia, but fans will have to tune in on Saturday to find out the truth.

The Masked Dancer series 2 concludes Saturday, October 22 at 6:30pm on ITV.
