Yellowstone’s Monica Dutton star speaks out on series ending: ‘Gonna get me in trouble’

[-WATCH UK TV LIVE-]

John Dutton (played by Kevin Costner) has been doing his best to stop the Yellowstone Ranch from slipping out of his fingers for four seasons now and the fifth run promises to be no different. With a trailer from Paramount confirming John will be sworn in as Governor of Montana, fans are on tenterhooks to see how this will effect the running of his land as well as where family members Beth (Kelly Reilly), Kayce (Luke Grimes) and adoptive son Jamie (Wes Bentley) now lie.

However, with so many threats lurking right around every corner for the Duttons, some fans have speculated this could be the last for John or the show as a whole.

After all, showrunner Taylor Sheridan also now has a packed work diary away from the Western drama.

As if 1883, a prequel to Yellowstone, wasn’t enough, Sheridan will also helm another spin-off, 1923, as well put his name to other shows Land Man, Lioness and Tulsa King.

So does this mean Yellowstone season five will be the Emmy-nominated series’ last? Monica Dutton star Kelsey Asbille has weighed in.

“Oh man, you're gonna get me in trouble," Asbille replied after Entertainment Tonight probed her on whether the season five finale could serve as the last-ever episode.

She continued to the publication: "We shot it. Yes and no. Is that a good answer?"

Asbille’s caginess about season five’s conclusion will undoubtedly spark concerns among the fanbase who want to see the Duttons’ story live on.

Especially given the fact that, should Yellowstone be cancelled, it seems Asbille is confident it would still wrap the story up for fans.

What transpired, as he told Monica, was Kayce seeing “the end of us” as a husband and wife duo.

Plus, former bunkmate Avery (Tanaya Beatty) reentered the fray and made her feelings for Kayce well-known.

And there’s the not-so-small issue of dealing with life away from John’s ranch given the horrific fallout of Garrett Randall’s (Will Patton) assassination attempts on the family.

All of these factors combined promise a turbulent time for Kayce and Monica lies ahead, but there’s another clue from the new full-length trailer which suggests the two may even find themselves at loggerheads.

In a handful of split-second shots, Monica can be seen furiously throwing kitchen items around her home.

This is soon followed up by a distraught Kayce who is seen holding his head in his hands while sitting outside their house.

Given the sheer number of challenges the two have faced so far, could season five be the final straw?

Yellowstone season 5 premieres on the Paramount Network in the USA on Sunday, November 13 and on Paramount+ in the UK on Monday, November 14.
