Emmerdale's Michael Wildman faces 'biggest thing' since soap exit

[-WATCH UK TV LIVE-]

Emmerdale star Michael Wildman has revealed details of his new character after bowing out as Al Chapman on the ITV soap. The actor will star in a new Netflix drama after three years in the Yorkshire Dales.

Michael appeared as the devious character of Al for the last time on Tuesday's episode of the ITV soap.

After a scuffle with Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) and a shotgun, his character was shot with a bullet and met his untimely end.

However, where one role has closed another has opened up with the streaming giant.

Ahead of his new role, he said: "My character is a bit of a wide boy but he is not a villain."

He added: "It's quite a dark piece but I’m really looking forward to it.

"The drama is being filmed in London which means I'll be able to come home to my bed every evening. It also means my wife can take on more projects herself," he told The Mirror.

His new role will be starring as a bar manager in the new drama Baby Reindeer and his character's friend is being stalked.

The new plot sounds as though it's inspired by the latest true crime drama The Watcher, the most viewed show in the UK last month on the platform.

After his final scenes, Emmerdale posted the video to its 619,000 Instagram followers of Michael bidding farewell.

In the video, he said: "The time has come for Al Chapman to move on. I've enjoyed every single moment of playing this mischievous, complex character.

"Thank you to the 95 percent of you that absolutely hate him, and the 5 per cent of you that actually love him", before hinting: "Keep watching, there's more to come."

Fans and fellow castmates of the actor flocked to pay tribute to the popular actor.
