Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of Outlander’s seventh season following the major cliffhanger which left the fate of a beloved character hanging in the balance. As many look forward to the show’s return, actor Sam Heughan dropped a huge clue about his character’s appearance.

Although season six came to an end after eight episodes, viewers were gripped by the thrilling storylines.

The show came to a major cliffhanger which saw highlander Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) galloping at full speed to save his wife Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe).

The two had become forcibly separated on their journey to Wilmington as instructed by the treacherous Richard Brown (Chris Larkin).

Although Jamie escaped unscathed, fans are yet to see if he will make it back to Claire before she is charged with a crime she didn’t commit.

While his future seems uncertain, there’s no doubt people will be after Jamie for escaping his punishment.

In true Outlander fashion, it’s unlikely his journey back to Claire will be smooth sailing as he could face a major injury.

Speaking on his return to screens, Sam hinted: “I may have had some prosthetics done at some point.

“You might see in the future,” he teased during an interview with Audible UK.

His finger was also nailed to a wooden table, which caused immense damage to his hand and middle finger with a compound fracture.

After he was recused Jamie lived with months of mental trauma while Claire tended to his wounds and gave him a wooden cast to help his fingers heal properly.

Even afterwards, his fingers remained stiff for a long time, which made the hand difficult to use.

Another physical change Jamie lived with was the deep scars he received on his back from being flogged, more than once.

The first time was when he defended his sister Jenny Fraser Murray (Laura Donnelly) from being assaulted by Randall and his men.

As punishment, Jamie received 200 lashings and almost died in the process.

This caused deep scars on his back which bled profusely, however, Randall refused to stop.

Fans will have to stay tuned to see which physical changes Jamie will go through in season seven.
