WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Emmerdale.

The Dingles are never too far away from drama in Emmerdale and Christmas Day was no different. Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) is still behind bars, taking the blame for the shooting of Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) for his son Kyle Dingle (Huey Quinn). What Cain didn’t expect though, on Christmas Day, was a visit from his secret brother Caleb Miligan (Will Ash). Cain had known for decades that he had a brother, and Emmerdale’s Boxing Day episode will explain why he stayed quiet for all these years.

On Boxing Day, Emmerdale fans are going to be taken back to 1991, where they will see how brothers Cain and Caleb first met.

The episode will delve into why they became estranged and why Cain kept Caleb a secret from the rest of his family.

It is known that Caleb is the son of Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) who recently died of cancer in the ITV soap.

But his existence was unbeknown to sister Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) who is bound to have a plethora of questions that only Cain can now answer.

Who plays young Cain in Emmerdale?

Young Cain Dingle in Emmerdale’s flashback episode is played by actor Aiden Kane.

This was his first time on the small screen, but after several rounds of auditions, Kane and Riccardo Drayton were picked to portray the young brothers.

Despite ITV only recently announcing there would be a flashback instalment to come, the scenes were filmed earlier this year.

Actor Kane told Digital Spy that he was “relieved” it was finally out in the open.

As well as Drayton, Kane shot scenes with actress Maddy Barker, who is behind young Chas Dingle, stating that it was probably his “favourite” moment to film.

Kane and Drayton also got the chance to meet Emmerdale icon Jeff Hordley and newcomer Will Ash, who is behind Caleb, during a rehearsal.

“He’s [Hordley] a really chilled-out guy”, Kane said.

“He gave me his phone number and said: ‘If you ever need to ask me any questions whilst you’re on set, just give me a text or call and I’ll be happy to help you.'”

Fast-forward to the present day and Cain will come face-to-face with his brother Caleb, who is portrayed by actor Will Ash.

He is probably best known for starring as Christopher Mead in Waterloo Road for three years.

Some of his other parts have been in Burn It, Conviction, Clocking Off, Paranoid and The Tunnel.

Emmerdale is available to watch on ITV and ITVX.
