Dancing On Ice is set for a major scheduling shake-up this year as the runtime of each live instalment will be cut by half an hour.

The fresh batch of stars will take to the ice this month in the hopes of being crowned champion by the judging panel.

The ITV celebrity talent competition will see the weekly shows be forced to move along at more of a clip than in previous years.

The hit skating show returns to our screens on Sunday January 15 and ITV has decided to reduce the length of Dancing on Ice by 30 minutes.

The announcement on social media read: “New Dancing on Ice returns to ITV & ITVX on Sunday 15th at 6:30pm.

“This year the series is reduced to 90 minutes per episode; so rather than 6 dances in 2 hours, we’ll now have 11 dances in just an hour and a half.”

Dancing on Ice fans were thrilled by the change, as it promised less ‘padding’ and advertisements.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “This sounds way better. Cut out the filler and just give us the dances and the scores. The old way was so slow and broke up with ad breaks too much.”

Another said: “That’s better.. less show filler or extra advert then.”

A third chimed in: “All shows need to do this!! The Adverts are ridiculous," as a fourth agreed: “So much better. They don't half drag it out.”

This comes after Dancing on Ice finally released a series of first look cast photos ahead of its blockbuster 2023 series this winter.

The celebs - a mix of reality titans, soap stars, sportspeople and singers - were shown posing for their official pictures and with their pro partners.

Among the celebrities taking part are The Wanted star Siva Kaneswaran, singer Michelle Heaton, comedian Darren Harriott, Hollyoaks star Carly Stenson, Joey Essex and TV personality The Vivienne.

Also taking part is Coronation Street's Mollie Gallagher, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, footballer John Fashanu and EastEnders legend Patsy Palmer.

In new look pictures, the cast of stars strike their best ice skating poses alongside their athletic professional skate partners, who have been guiding the celebrity novices from their shaky first steps to spectacular routines during weeks of training.

The four judges – skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse – are back to give their verdicts on their routines each week and the group looked glam as they posed for photos together.
