Saturday Night Takeaway made its big return on Saturday night, with hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly back to entertain the nation - and loyal fans were all overjoyed to see it return after a year off-screen.

Ant soon confessed he felt "emotional" over the live studio audience's reactions to having them back.

But it wasn't just the hosts and the audience who were thrilled by the comeback, as viewers tuning in at home were pleased to have the series on air.

As the series kicked off for the first time in 2023, the crowd screamed out and applauded Ant and Dec as they were introduced by this week's Guest Announcer, David Tennant.

As they reacted, Ant talked of feeling "quite emotional" by the response with Dec agreeing with his friend.

Soon the show was back to its usual goings on, with a prank on a member of the public and guest Jordan North causing chaos.

As Dec teased one lady in the crowd, Doctor Who star David joined in on the shenanigans - and the hosts soon confirmed the show was heading back to Orlando, Florida, for the big finale for the first time in five years.

This meant viewers and audience members were able to win a chance to have a place on the plane, later joining the hosts for the final episode at Universal Studios.

Watching at home, fans were happy to have the show back with some even calling it "the best thing" about Saturday nights.

Taking to Twitter, one amused fan said: "LOL SATURDAY NIGHT TAKEAWAY IS BACK AND ITS MORE FUNNIER THAN EVER!"

Another agreed: "So good to have the best Saturday night show back @itvtakeaway Can't wait to see @Tom_Grennan in the End of the Show Show."

A third fan tweeted: "Nice to have @antanddec back on a Saturday night," as a fourth wrote: "Thank God for you too!...& David Tennant an added Scottish bonus!"

The latest series of the cheeky show will see cameos from the nation's favourite P.E teacher Joe Wicks and Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, with Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark the next unwitting victims of their very own Undercover.

Viewer favourites are back including Ring My Bell, Singalong Live and Win the Ads and there are some brilliant End of the Show Shows planned throughout the series run which as always will entertain.

Stephen Mulhern, Fleur East and Andi Peters will all help hosts Ant and Dec out throughout the series once again, with Stephen putting the boys through a brand new set of high octane Ant vs Dec challenges.

Ant and Dec teased the return of the series earlier this month, as they shared a tweet from the official Saturday Night Takeaway Twitter page.

One viewer tweeted: “Can’t wait. Best programme on TV on a Saturday by far.”

Another said: “Saturdays just got so much more exciting!”

A third added: “Finally something to look forward to on Saturday nights, can't wait, i want to see the pineapple.”

Meanwhile, a fourth viewer commented: “Wahoooooo I cannot wait, I’m so excited I love this show, Ant, Dec, Stephen and David Tennant.”
