EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has hinted Walford legend Little Mo could return to the BBC One soap.

Chris appeared on ITV's Loose Women on Friday afternoon as he discussed the huge Christmas 2023 flash forward episode and teased what fans can expect on Albert Square in the run-up.

He even said there is a chance Mo, who is the mother of tearaway teenager and soap newcomer Freddie ( Bobby Brazier ), could return in upcoming scenes.

Chris told the Loose Women panel in the ITV studio: “Freddie’s in the show, so there is every chance that Little Mo could pop back to Walford.”

Actress Kacey Ainsworth played Little Mo and left the BBC One soap in 2006, going on to star in a number of theatre and TV roles.

Kacey, 53, recently appeared to shut down the suggestion she could return to EastEnders saying: “I've done so much since I've left.

“I'm a regular in an ITV series that's now...we're onto our seventh series of that. I've done so many things. Mrs Lovitt [in Sweeney Todd at the Everyman Theatre], I've just finished a play called Lava in London.”

She added that she doesn't think there's ‘room’ for a soap return at present, but did not rule it out completely.

Elsewhere in his Loose Women chat, Chris hinted there could be a link between Mick Carter's exit and the dead body found at Christmas.

In a special flash forward scene which aired earlier this week, it was confirmed there will be a dead body this Christmas as the six matriarchs of the BBC soap – Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki ( Balvinder Sopal ) – were seen standing around an anonymous corpse.

Hints have been dropped about the identity of the person and their connection with the Square, but fans will have to wait to find out exactly what happened to that mystery EastEnder and who might be responsible for their death.

Speaking on the show, Chris said: ”Is he still alive? That is the kind of question that's been asked since Christmas Day. It's a soap, anything can happen. There's kind of an unwritten rule that if there wasn't a body, there's every chance...

”Will Mick rock up in Walford in a few years covered in seaweed? Will he be the dead body at Christmas?”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One
