Emmerdale fans have shared a fresh theory on Caleb Miligan's true identity, amid speculation he could be on the Dales to seek revenge against his brother Cain Dingle.
It comes after a mysterious phone call saw him talk about reeling someone in, with the identity of the caller not yet known.
The latest theory came amid disturbing scenes on the soap, after Paddy Kirk, who is played by long-time soap star Dominic Brunt, disappeared from the village in a major new storyline.
Chas Dingle and co were in the Woolpack with the police trying to piece together Paddy’s last movements in the village, after the revelation he had slept with old flame Mandy Dingle.
It turned out that Caleb was the last to see Paddy, as he admitted he had run into the vet shortly before he vanished – and gave him a stern talking to.
Caleb described it as a ‘friendly word in his ear’ but essentially told struggling Paddy it would be in his interest to get gone.
He said he did so in the hopes of protecting Chas, telling her later in the episode: “He needed squaring up. You know he did. He was getting to you.”
However, a furious Chas accused him of being just like vindictive and bullying Cain.
However, Emmerdale fans at home noticed something else after the scenes with the police – as they pointed out the ‘forensic’ detail in his description of Paddy hinted he could be an undercover copper.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Caleb very observant on what Paddy was wearing. Worthy of an undercover cop, I deem.”
A second chipped in: “Oh Caleb – your description of Paddy was very policeyfied then.... Are we sure you aren't an undercover cop?”
“Why is Caleb even there,” a third questioned as a fourth added: “Caleb giving a very forensic account of how Paddy was dressed. Just how a police officer would if talking to his superiors.”
It comes after Emmerdale confirmed that, feeling alone and struggling to find his place in people’s lives, Paddy will begin having suicidal thoughts on the ITV soap.
The fan favourite has been in a place of grief and confusion amid the breakdown of his marriage to Chas following the revelation of her affair with Al.
Although Paddy will soon be found staying locally in a guest house, it will be clear he is struggling with his mental health and not planning on reconnecting with his loved ones for some time.
In March Paddy will return to his village, when completely unbeknownst to his close friends he will say some veiled goodbyes before leaving again with the aim of ending his own life.
