Emmerdale star Danny Miller has revealed how bosses helped him cry in his scenes on the ITV soap.

Danny played Aaron Dingle on the show for several years, and his character was known for crying on regular occasions. During an appearance on Celebrity Catchphrase tonight, Danny revealed what bosses hand to hand if he needed to cry on cue.

The I'm A Celebrity winner had some huge storylines during Danny's time in the Dales, with him most recently returning to the soap for a very special 50th anniversary special month of episodes last year when his sister Liv Dingle died in tragic scenes.

Chatting to Catchphrase host Stephen Mulhern, the presenter said: "You do a lot of crying on the show, what is this crying stick?"

Danny then joked back that he never needed to use it, before confirming the crying stick helped him tear up on cue: "Well Stephen I never needed to use it, there will be the Emmerdale cast watching this now, saying 'you liar!'"

A crying stick is a lipstick which has a waxy stick which contains menthol and camphor extracts to help encourage natural tears.

He returned to Emmerdale for a special run of episodes last year, but didn't rule out the possibility of a permanent return.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press ahead of his Emmerdale return, he said: "Obviously never did I imagine that I'd be going on I'm A Celebrity, and everything that happened there. I never imagined that I'd kind of be coming back for a long period of time so soon.

"So when they called to say, would I like to be part of the 50th? I was just obviously instantly interested. I knew the storylines, which kind of attracted me to come to come to come back and celebrate the 50th with such a big part of my life."

He added: "Emmerdale's been huge for me. It was kind of an honour that they wanted me to come and say happy birthday. It has been really nice getting back and seeing everyone and there's a lot of new faces and there's a lot of old faces and it's been nice to get to know them and catch up with the people that I've not seen for a year."

Danny also admitted it was a "risk" for him to ask to leave the show when he did - especially when evil serial killer Meena Jutla was still about and was on her murder spree around the whole of the Emmerdale village.
