Iain Lee has announced his 'retirement' from broadcasting to focus on his new career in counselling.

The former I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star revealed to his Twitter followers on Monday he handed in his notice at Jack FM after realising he 'didn't want to work in radio anymore'.

Iain, 49, explained he's not sure how long he has left on the airwaves following his resignation, as he confessed having 'no producer, podcast or daily best bits' contributed to his decision to quit.

The star continued to detail how after 30 years in the industry has left him feeling 'really tired' and he will now focus primarily on his counselling work after qualifying in December 2022 - confessing he's not sure if Jack FM will want him to complete his notice period following his announcement.

Iain had a tough time when he had a stint in the jungle back in 2017 and went on to accuse co-stars Dennis Wise and Rebekah Vardy of bullying him during their time Down Under on the ITV show.

Since his last reality TV venture, Iain has been focusing on projects outside of the world of showbiz - announcing he had become a qualified counsellor at the end of last year.

Writing on Twitter on Monday, the radio star began telling his followers: "Hey everyone, a bit of news, a few weeks ago I handed my notice in at Jack FM. Not sure how long I've got left (maybe nothing after this tweet!). It wasn't working for me with no producer, podcast or daily best bits.

"It's also made me realise I don't want to work in radio anymore so I'm announcing my retirement' from broadcasting to focus full time on my counselling work.

He continued to explain: "There are of course exceptions. Patreon will continue, as will voiceover work and the odd gig on 4 Extra. I'll still consider offers but won't chase them."

Iain concluded by sharing a link to his Patreon and telling anyone "curious about working with me as a therapist email hello@iainleecounselling.com or check out http://iainleecounselling.com."

The broadcaster returned to Twitter to confess he's not sure if he will be allowed to work his notice period at Jack FM following his announcement.

"I've been working in this industry for 30 years and I'm really tired. So, onto new and better adventures. Thank you radio, for most of it it was a blast," the former stand-up comic admitted, before adding: "I'm supposed to be back on Jack on Wednesday. These tweets may have knocked that on the head, let's see. Thanks for all your kind words."

Iain's fans and friends rushed to congratulate the star on his new career venture, with one telling him: "Best of luck. Building a second career like that so a bold and brave thing to do, I hope it works well for you."
