Huge sitcom star joins EastEnders cast and bosses think she'll be a firm fan favourite

EastEnders is set to welcome a popular sitcom star to the cast, with bosses said to be certain she will "go down a storm" with viewers.

Vicki Michelle, who is well-known for playing waitress Yvette Carte-Blanche in 'Allo 'Allo!, will soon be joining the BBC soap and will start filming her scenes later this month.

It's yet to be confirmed what her role will be, but the 72-year-old actress is due to appear in several episodes of EastEnders this spring.

A source close to the show said: "Bosses are keeping tight-lipped on her role, but she will definitely stir up some drama."

"Producers know she’s a talented actress and will go down a storm with fans," the insider told The Sun.

This isn't the first time Vicki will have taken on a role for a popular soap, having joined the cast of Emmerdale between 2007 and 2009 playing Patricia Foster.

She also took part in I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here in 2014 and competed in Celebrity MasterChef in 2008.

Vicki is best known for starring in 'Allo 'Allo!, which ran for a decade from 1982 and attracted 25million viewers at its peak.

The BBC sitcom sold in 60 countries worldwide and made household names of its cast, which also included the late Gordon Kaye.

Last year an offensiveness warning was slapped on classic episodes in case viewers were upset by characters mocking French and German accents.

Vicki has previously spoken out about how she believes the show would not make it past censors today.

"Comedy is being neutralised - or nuked," Vicki told The Mirror. "I think 80% of this country would love comedy like ‘Allo ‘Allo to be made again, so 20% might take aversion to some of the content.

"But people eff, blind and use the c-word on telly and that’s considered fine. And on reality TV people make love under a sheet, and that’s fine.

"There was none of that in ‘Allo ‘Allo. We stayed covered up, embraced instead of kissed and used nicknames which were used during wartime when the series was set.

"I don’t think there’s anything in there that would upset a normal person."
