Paramount+’s acclaimed Yellowstone franchise expanded with the recent addition of the Harrison Ford-led spin-off, 1923. Following the season finale, 1883 star Tim McGraw welcomed the Hollywood legend to the franchise with a heartfelt tribute message.

In December, fans were introduced to a new generation of the beloved Dutton family.

As well as the original drama led by Kevin Costner, for the prequel, 1883, fans were transported back 125 years when the family first acquired the highly desired Montana ranch.

After 10 episodes, 1883 wrapped and soon after bosses unveiled a second prequel, 1923. This time, fans were introduced to Jacob Dutton (played by Harrison Ford) and his wife Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) who took over the ranch from Jacob’s late brother, James Dutton (Tim McGraw).

Actor and country music star, Tim McGraw gave a nod to his and Harrison’s character being brothers during a touching tribute.

Tim shared: “Faith and I are very proud to be part of the Dutton family now after 1883.

“Kevin Costner was so nice in welcoming me to the Dutton family, so I thought that it was my duty to welcome Harrison Ford, one of my favourite actors.”

He remarked: “I never thought that Harrison Ford would be my brother, makes me feel pretty good.”

After experiencing hardship and death across the Great Plains, the family decided to settle in Montana.

Although James and Margaret’s death wasn’t portrayed on screen the 1923 premiere explained Jacob and Cara took over the ranch.

As they had no children of their own, they raised John Sr (James Badge Dale) and Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar).

However, they too faced hardship as this new generation of Duttons lived through prohibition, drought and the early stages of the Great Depression.
