Tracy Barlow has been involved in plenty of drama over the years on Coronation Street.

The character - played by Kate Ford - has blackmailed Roy Cropper ( David Neilson ), been found guilty of murder and even handed her killer boyfriend Rob Donovan ( Marc Baylis ) over to the police.

Despite her manipulative ways, actress Kate previously admitted she doesn't think her character is evil.

"I think she's a sociopath really, she doesn’t have the empathy that most people have.

"But we do see the human side of her, I don't think the character would have lasted so long if she was just a baddie. People wouldn't believe her.

"She's never boring, I'm really lucky," she told The Mirror back in 2015.

Luckily, Kate's life away from the screen is a lot less dramatic.

The soap star, 46, lives in south London with her 15-year-old son Otis who she shares with her ex-husband Jon Connerty.

Kate married TV producer Jon in 2007 before they separated in 2013. She said the split was "incredibly painful", but admitted it "became therapeutic to concentrate on my job".

Kate now has some very famous friends who live on the same road as her, including Loose Women star Kate Thornton.

Speaking about their relationship, the Corrie star said: "I spent [Christmas] with Kate Thornton at her house and she made the most ridiculous amount of food I've ever seen in my life.

"We live on the same street in London and our boys are really good friends. We're so close, in and out of each other's houses all the time."

Kate's first taste of stardom came when she appeared in the music video for The Beatles song Free as a Bird which was released in 1995.

As well as her work on Coronation Street, she has also appeared in shows such as Blue Murder and Missing.

Kate previously opened up about the future of her role on the soap and admitted she has no intentions of quitting.

"It's good for me to be at Corrie now, I have good work, and good scripts, and I don’t want to lose that.

"When you don't have young children it's easier to make braver choices, but I'm not saying this is an easy option, it's hard work, and I really enjoy it.

"I'm not a particularly ambitious person. I'm not one of those people who thinks 'by this time I want to have done this and that', the idea of that freaks me right out.

"Life's too complicated," she admitted.

Kate often shares snippets of her life on Instagram and she has been open with fans about her painful health struggles, having revealed she suffers with endometriosis.

She took to Instagram last year to admit she was in pain while filming Coronation Street.

"Filming #itvcorrie this was a few weeks ago at a time that I was struggling with my #endrometriosis," she wrote alongside a selfie.

"Luckily got lots of support x just sending a hug out to all those struggling with similar.
