Coronation Street actor Andrew Still has shared his horror over his current storyline, that will see him attack another character with acid.

Corrie confirmed this month that Daisy Midgeley would be targeted by her stalker Justin Rutherford in horrifying scenes on her wedding day, in an acid attack.

Daisy’s frightening stalker is set to return to Weatherfield on her big day to cruelly attack her in a sinister act during Monday night's episode of the ITV soap.

Now, actor Andrew has told The Mirror and other press what it was like filming the horrible scenes which are set to air this week.

Working alongside The Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI), Coronation Street decided to tell the story to highlight the devastating impact and long-lasting effects of such heinous attacks.

Andrew confessed that while it was fun to film something big for the show, he felt "disgusting" having to say his lines and carrying out the attack.

He also revealed he was "shocked" about the plot, and had "no idea" that his character was going to go that far when he initially got the part.

He revealed: "I was shocked. I had no idea it was gonna go that far and I was a little intimidated because it's such an awful crime. You really wanna do it justice and give it the seriousness it deserves."

On filming the scenes, Andrew said: "It was fun, but it was pretty grim. Everyone was brilliant and gave it the respect the story needed.

"It felt really disgusting to give those lines and go through that action. It's a hateful, nasty thing to do. If you are gonna play it truthfully you have to deal with those emotions. It was horrible and hopefully, that translates on screen."

On why Justin seeks those lengths to target Daisy, Andrew said the character will make excuses to try and justify the attack.

He explained: "His thought process would be... it has hurt his pride, his ego, it's piling on top of this misplaced anger over his mum.

"He's jealous about the wedding. Daisy has got Daniel, she's got the rest of her life to look forward to whereas his world is crumbling around him.

"After, I think he's gonna make all sorts of excuses to justify in his head why he's done this, but this is a total act of hate. There is no love in this, it is definitely an act of hate."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
