Netflix drops wild first look at Pornhub documentary – exposing dark truth behind adult site

Netflix have dropped the trailer for a wild new documentary about the dark truth behind the adult site, Pornhub.

The streaming platform released the trailer for the 90-minute documentary called Money Shot: The Pornhub Story, which will hit our screens on March 15.

The documentary will feature interviews with sex workers, activists and former employees of the website.

It will chronicle how the website transformed adult entertainment and how it reached a wider audience, making it a multi-billion dollar industry.

It will also explore the allegations of non-consensual material and trafficking.

The description of the documentary says: "Pornhub, the internet’s most famous adult entertainment platform, fundamentally changed how pornography is made and distributed.

"This enabled erotic content creators to reach a massive audience while the company made billions of dollars – but it also became embroiled in allegations including non-consensual material and trafficking on the site.

"As anti-trafficking organizations seek justice for victims, can the online giant protect those from whom they profit, or is this a new wave of censorship for adult performers making consensual porn?"

Netflix provided a statement by director and producer of the documentary, Suzanne Hillinger, saying: "This documentary requires us to grapple with what sexuality and consent means when billion-dollar internet platforms thrive on user-generated content.

"Who has, and who should have, the power in these environments?

"Our hope is that this film generates important conversations about sex and consent, both on the internet and out in the world."

Pornhub is the 13th most visited website in the entire world and the second-most-trafficked adult website.

It was first launched in Canada in 2007 and was later bought by MindGeek in 2010 - the same company which owns many other porn websites including Brazzers, RedTube and YouPorn.

Activist organisations fought against the adult website to protect victims of sex trafficking.

In the trailer, adult performers talked about their livelihoods in the industry.

One interviewee said: "It’s not just an attack on porn. It’s an attack on people being able to express themselves."
