Susan Boyle honoured the “one in a million” Paul O’Grady who died “unexpectedly but peacefully” on Tuesday with the Lily Savage star’s husband, Andre Portasio, confirming the tragic news.

Stars throughout the showbiz world have paid tribute to the presenter and comedian with Susan, 61, taking to Instagram on Wednesday to share her last photo with Paul which was taken days ago as he performed in Annie.

The two friends met up in Edinburgh last week and Paul looked to be in good spirits as he rested his hands on Susan’s shoulders.

The Britain’s Got Talent star penned: “Paul, you were one in a million, kind, funny, and a great friend.

“When I saw you last week in Edinburgh, never would I have thought this was goodbye.”

She concluded: “Sending love to Andre & your family. I will miss you.”

Susan was inundated with messages of support as fans flocked to the comment section and paid tribute to Paul.

Kathy wrote: “When we lose our friends, it leaves such a hole in our existence. Sorry your friend passed. Compassionately a soul sister.”

Wesley penned: “So sad to hear the news about Paul. I’m sorry you lost friend, Susan.”

J3 added: “So sorry @susanboylemusic for the loss of your beautiful friend what a legacy of love he left in this world to animals and people it was such a beautiful place knowing he made it so bright happy and caring.”

The Blind Date star’s husband Andre Postario confirmed the presenter’s death and said: “It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday.

“He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”

Paul and Andre married in a low-key ceremony in 2017.

The TV star had been due to continue a tour of the UK as Miss Hannigan, appearing in Southampton at the end of April.

He was also scheduled to play the role in Liverpool, Wimbledon and in Bristol in November.

Paul was also due to start working at his new gig on Boom Radio next week.

Although the cause of the father-of-one’s death is not known, he had previously spoken of surviving kidney failure and heart attacks in 2002, 2006 and 2014.
