Alexis Mac Allister 'makes firm transfer decision' as Liverpool and Man Utd circle

Mac Allister has been linked with a move away from Brighton ahead of the transfer window. The Argentine’s excellent performances for Roberto De Zerbi’s side, coupled with his World Cup triumph, have courted the attention of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The 24-year-old is reported to have signed a new contract with Brighton. However, a clause could allow him to leave, with the Seagulls having a say over the destination of any possible transfer from the South Coast outfit.

Man Utd and Liverpool are apparently interested in a move ahead of the 2023-24 season. Both clubs are expected to strengthen their respective midfields in the summer after struggling with depth in the position this term.

According to The Athletic, Mac Allister is yet to agree a deal with any potential suitor. However, he would prefer to be playing in the Champions League should he exit the AMEX Stadium.

Brighton themselves are on course to qualify for European competition come the end of the campaign. De Zerbi's side are sixth in the Premier League following Sunday's excellent 3-0 thumping of Arsenal, and would enter the Europa League should they remain in that position.

Tottenham are two points behind but have played two games more. Qualifying for the competition could aid Brighton's ability to keep Mac Allister and fellow key players over the off-season, with Moises Caicedo and Kaoru Mitoma also linked with departures.

De Zerbi confirmed that some individuals will leave Brighton, telling Sky Sports: "For sure, we will lose some players, maybe Caicedo or Mac Allister. We have to be ready to bring in other good players.”
