Emmerdale legend's return 'sealed' to save Moira Barton from financial ruin

A cryptic comment from a former Emmerdale actor about the latest episode of the ITV serial drama has sparked a frenzy among viewers on social media.

Kelvin Fletcher portrayed Andy Sugden in Emmerdale between 1996 and 2016, and fans are hoping his character returns to the village to save Moira Barton (played by Natalie J Robb) from her scheming brother-in-law Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) and Kim Tate (Claire King).

Moira was left with a difficult decision on Wednesday's instalment of the soap as she had to consider selling her treasured farming land.

Caleb has been encouraging Moira to sell the farm to village villain Kim as he is desperate to keep the businesswoman on his side as he continues trying to bleed her dry.

Moira was not convinced but she was left with no choice after Caleb sabotaged her business to push her to sell her farm to Kim.

It appears Caleb is happy to throw his own family under the bus to succeed at stealing everything Kim owns.

He wants Moira and her husband Cain Dingle's (Jeff Hordley) land as it is so close to Home Farm.

However, viewers are hoping Kelvin's character Andy, who used to work on Moira's farm, will return to the show.

Kelvin, who portrayed Andy, has teased a possible comeback on Emmerdale's Instagram about the farm, saying: "I'll buy it."

It could have been a reference to the fact he owns a farm in the Macclesfield area, but fans felt it was a sign he may head back to Emmerdale.

Many fans begged for Kelvin to reprise his role in the ITV soap, with Ethan commenting: "Yes, a new story someone buys the farm, but who? Andy of course."

Lyn shared: "Kelvin Fletcher, that would be the best!" (sic)

Jim added: "Yes please, I'm sure everyone would love to see you back."

Sabrina remarked: "Yes! The auction mystery buyer on the phone. Excellent!"

@Mulberrylife said: "Oh please do. You've got real-life experience now. I'm sure you could make it work. I mean, does Moira actually have any animals? She hasn't even got a dog!"

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
