Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag let down by David De Gea and three other stars in West Ham loss

United need to try Henderson

In light of De Gea's latest error, it's clear United require an upgrade as they look to challenge the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League title next season.

The problem is, however, that top goalkeepers aren't cheap. Diogo Costa has been linked but the Porto star is valued at close to £60million, which would eat into a large chunk of the Red Devils' budget.

United do, though, have Dean Henderson still on their books. The England international impressed at Nottingham Forest this season before injury cruelly struck to end his campaign at the City Ground ahead of schedule.

Henderson obviously still has much to learn and playing for United is certainly a bigger test than turning out for Forest, despite the size of the Nottingham-based club.

Still, with United needing to save their cash for other areas of their squad such as a new striker and fresh midfielder, giving Henderson a genuine chance to stake a claim for the No 1 jersey is a gamble probably worth taking.
