NCIS Hawaii finale teases deadly mission Tennant and Whistler as go rogue on overseas

CBS’ acclaimed procedural drama NCIS Hawaii draws closer to its season finale, which will air in two parts.

Unlike the romantic conclusion in season one, this time Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant (played by Vanessa Lachey) will find herself at the centre of a murder mystery.

Thankfully for fans, a number of sneak peek clips for Past Due have been released and teased a very personal final two episodes for Tennant.

Up to this point, the show has focused on the skilled agent’s life as a mother of two, as well as her relationship with her ex-husband Daniel Tennant (Anthony Ruivivar).

Little is known about Tennant’s past, and it looks as though she seemingly had something to do with the death of a CIA agent.

The synopsis for Past Due reads: “The discovery of a dead former MI6 agent uncovers secrets from Tennant’s past, forcing her to go to extreme lengths to track down the responsible party.”

One of these extreme lengths could be enlisting FBI agent Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) to help her break the rules.

This was hinted at in a sneak peek clip which revealed Tennant will be suspended.

Although Whistler showed concern, Tennant changed the subject and asked: “Did you look into the bank?”

“A friend who works out of the FBI field office in Brazil says money was withdrawn from the Caracus account in person at the bank, no digital record available,” Whistler added.

However, Tennant probed: “What will it take to find out?”

The FBI agent suggested: “We send a disclosure request and have an agent follow up in person.”

Tennant hit back: “Only if that agent is you, this is a sensitive matter, you’re former DIA.”

Whistler then became hesitant after the suspended agent insisted on joining her, as she said: “I’m not sure how I’d clear that with the bosses.”

In spite of the risk, Tennant gave her a knowing look and stated: “You don’t.

“Look Kate if you’re uncomfortable with it…” but before she could finish, the FBI agent interjected: “I’m deeply uncomfortable with it.

“But I assume you’re going to Caracus no matter what. So I’ll come too, provided you don't keep me in the dark.”

To which Tennant cryptically replied: “I’ll tell you as much as I can when we get there.”

NCIS Hawaii season 2 continues Mondays on CBS in the USA.
