Phillip Schofield 'has had an aggressive offer to be on Strictly Come Dancing'

BBC's Strictly Come Dancing are said to be keen to get Phillip Schofield as a contestant for the next series of the popular dance show.

Schofield reportedly has been asked to appear on the show before. However, a show insider says a new "more aggressive" offer has now been made, according to reports.

It's claimed the show's producers "would love" to have Schofield onboard, "because of the publicity it would generate". It comes after the presenter left This Morning on Saturday following murmurs of his recent rift with co-host Holly Willoughby.

Schofield's departure has sparked much speculation about what he will do next. However, an 'insider source' said that “Phil is in the sights of Strictly,” reported The Sun.

“They would love to have him on board because of the publicity it would generate for the show. Phil has been asked before but this time the offer was more aggressive."

However, the source said it is "unlikely" Schofield will join the hit show. The reportedly told The Sun: “Given he’s currently lying low and trying to work out his next move, it’s unlikely he will put on his dancing shoes but stranger things have happened."

“No one thought he’d ever leave This Morning and look how that ended up.”

The source also suggested Schofield was in demand elsewhere. They told The Sun that Schofield "has had approaches from broadcasters like Channel 5" who are "keen to discuss possible projects".

And ITV has already confirmed that Schofield will host a new show on the channel. He agreed to step down from ITV's This Morning amid reports of him and long-term co-host and friend Willoughby hardly speaking off-camera.

Holly will continue presenting the day-time show. Stand-in presenters are set to join her until a full-time replacement is found.
