Vicky McClure's appearance distracts ITV viewers as fans ask 'What's with the wig?'

Without Sin, which made its debut on Monday night, follows the story of Stella Tomlinson (played by Vicky McClure), who is grieving the murder of her daughter Maisy.

Despite the culprit being behind bars, Charles Stone (Johnny Harris) protests his innocence and requested to see Stella in prison.

However, as the show began, ITV fans took to Twitter in droves to share their thoughts on Vicky's character's appearance, with many commenting on Stella's wig.

@Noir2023Tech tweeted: "#withoutsin Vicki's wig...was that the only one the wardrobe department could provide? Cheap and ill-fitting."

@MillieSansoye asked: "Why did they give Vicky McClure such a terrible wig lmao #WithoutSin

@EmmaDale022 went on to share: "#withoutsin her wig looks awful."

@DebbieGForLife commented: "Just tuned in so maybe I’ve missed something but that wig is awful looking! #WithoutSin."

@Invisible_Lady1 asked: "What's with the wig? #withoutsin."

"Vicky looks funny with long hair.. prefer her with short, it really suits her #withoutsin," @Firefly070 said.

Other fans felt let down by the "slow" and "depressing" storyline.

However, despite the criticism, some viewers seemed to love the new drama, with @YouBearsssssss writing: "Very enjoyable 1st Episode #WithoutSin Time to Binge Watch tonight as I'm not waiting until Tomorrow Night." (sic)

Fans won't have to wait long for the next instalment as the second episode will be shown on Tuesday.

After meeting with Stella, Charles tries to convince the grieving mum that he was set-up by a notorious crime family.

Stella initially struggles to believe him, as she learns more about his dark past.

However, she cannot help but be drawn back in when she delves into her daughter's life and makes a troubling discovery close to home.

But, will Stella end up believing Charles and will he prove his innocence?

Without Sin returns on Tuesday at 9pm on ITV.
