Fiorentina star's head pours with blood after West Ham fans pelt him with beer cups

Fiorentina defender Cristiano Biraghi's head was left pouring with blood after West Ham fans pelted him with beer cups and other objects in shocking scenes during the Europa Conference League final.

Biraghi was hit by cups hurled at him by fans as he attempted to take a corner in the first half. One of the cups cracked off of the back of the Italian's head and opened up a nasty gash.

Biraghi sarcastically applauded the fans, who cheered with delight as he turned to reveal a sea of claret pouring down his neck.

Robbie Savage, on commentary for BT Sport, reacted to the incident: "We've been praising the West Ham fans for how they have been around the city, around the hotel but that's not acceptable, it's terrible."

A warning was then sounded to the West Ham fans over the tannoy as the referee brought a halt to the match.

With the action being paused, Biraghi went over to the touchline to get himself patched up by medics before returning to the field to see out the first half which ended 0-0.

This disgraceful act comes hours after 30 people were detained following a series of violent altercations between Fiorentina supporters and West Ham fans before the game in Prague.

Terrifying footage recently emerged from the Czech capital showing a large group of Fiorentina ultras, confronting West Ham fans at a pub. Several members of the group could be seen wielding weapons as they hurled chairs at the group of West Ham supporters.

Czech police later confirmed in a statement that multiple people had been injured in the carnage. A statement read: "Italy fans attacked West Ham fans in a bar in Rytirska Street, injuring three. One policeman was also attacked.

"We have restricted the personal freedom of 16 people and we are currently investigating the whole incident."
