Holly Willoughby appears to squash Eamonn Holmes' 'fake friendship' claim with remark

Holly Willoughby’s return to ITV's This Morning has seen her host alongside Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle.

During Wednesday’s instalment, it seemed as though the 42-year-old took the opportunity to squash accusations made by Eamonn Holmes about her friendship with Alison Hammond.

As Josie, who was at Kennet and Avon Canal, told Holly and Craig she’ll be on her own boat this week with her friends, Craig questioned how many people would be joining her on the adventure.

She replied: "Well, I've been trying to round them out but Alison can't make it, Holly's obviously in the studio, so I've got one or two."

Interjecting, Holly revealed the real reason why Alison wouldn't be able to join her on the canal.

Grinning, she said: “Alison can't come because she's at mine tonight! That's what I do know!"

Her remark seemed to be in response to Eamonn’s scathing rant on GB News last week as he suggested Alison and Holly’s friendship wouldn’t have happened 13 years ago.

In a bombshell interview with Dan Wottoon, the former This Morning host called their new friendship “nonsense”.

He reeled: “This wouldn't have happened two years ago. Are you kidding?

“Alison Hammond has been on the programme for 13 years and I'm sure there was very little contact between her and the presenters.

"People just use other people and it's disgusting."

This week, Holly Willoughby returned back to her hosting duties on the ITV show after an extended half-term break.

The prolonged absence came following the sudden exit of her former co-star Phillip Schofield, who has since admitted to having an affair with a former This Morning runner.

Although ITV is yet to find a full-time replacement for Phillip, many fans are thrilled with Holly and Craig’s pairing and are calling for him to be on the show full-time.

StephsMoansx said: “There’s such a warmth and calmness about Craig Doyle, Holly seems more relaxed with him too. Would not complain if he were to be permanent.”

ForeverOUFC responded: “Exactly what I’m thinking too, just feels so right.”

Agreeing, GillThamesider3 commented: “With you on that he's funny bright spontaneous and an experienced presenter, Josie doing what she does best out & about not on the couch, I prefer the M and F energy too, let's hope Craig is a regular.”

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am
