Man, 74, arrested after a woman, 77, is found dead in her own home

A man, 74, has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in her West London home, sparking a police murder investigation. The woman, 77, was found at the scene after police were called to an address in Ealing because of concerns for her wellbeing on Sunday. London Ambulance Service workers at Metropolitan Police officers were unable to save her.

She died from a head injury, a post-mortem has found.

Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves of the Met’s West Area Command said: "I know that local people will be shocked by this incident and additional foot patrols are being conducted to reassure the community.

"Our colleagues from the Specialist Crime Command are progressing their investigation. One person has been arrested and we aren’t seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.

“I encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers on patrol or contact their neighbourhood policing team.

"Our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family."

The address where she was found is on Harold Road, Ealing.
