Premier League opening fixtures 'leak' as document emerges but key problem spotted

Leaked pictures of what appears to be a secret document have got football fans talking about what may be the first round of next season's Premier League fixtures. However, newly-promoted Luton Town being listed at home has sparked scepticism around the document's legitimacy.

Supporters don't have long left to discover who their teams will face on the first weekend of next season. The fixture list is due to be announced on the morning of Thursday June 15, but a picture circulating on social media suggests that they may have leaked early.

Among the games listed are defending champions Manchester City visiting Vincent Kompany's Burnley, Arsenal travelling to Fulham, Manchester United hosting Brighton and Tottenham facing a tricky opening-weekend showdown with Newcastle.

However, one of the fixtures perceptible on the document is Luton Town hosting Liverpool at Kenilworth Road. Many believe that the picture could be a hoax on that basis as the Hatters are in talks to play their first few matches away from home while they renovate the stadium.

Much of Kenilworth Road currently resembles a building site, with significant improvements needed on the Bobbers Stand to comply with Premier League relegations. Executive boxes, the TV gantry and the pitch itself are also set to be revamped.

As a result, the club's chief recruitment officer Mick Harford has admitted that playing their first few games away from home is a matter of discussion with Premier League officials, just in case they don't complete the work in time for the opening day.

Kenilworth Road, which has a capacity of just over 10,000, is set to add character to the division, with supporters accustomed to state-of-the-art facilities such as the Emirates Stadium and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Completing the 'leaked' fixture list, which many now believe to be a false alarm, is Bournemouth hosting West Ham, Chelsea visiting Crystal Palace, Everton facing Brentford, Aston Villa travelling to Sheffield United and Wolves playing Nottingham Forest at Molineux.
