Bruno Fernandes sends 'angry' Man Utd welcome message to 'world class' Mason Mount

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes jokingly referred to an angry exchange he shared with Mason Mount as he welcomed the new Red Devils signing. United have finally confirmed the £60million arrival of Mount after a lengthy transfer saga.

Vice-captain Fernandes has become the first United player to welcome Mount, sharing a social media message soon after the club confirmed the deal. The attacking midfielder made reference to the length of time it took for the transfer to be completed.

Taking to Instagram, Fernandes shared a flashback to a fiery exchange between himself and Mount during a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in April 2022. Using an 'angry' emoji, the Portugal ace joked: "Why did you take so long to sign? Welcome @masonmount."

It came after John Murtough, United’s football director, sparked excitement among fans by dubbing the club’s new recruit ‘world class’. Offering his thoughts on Mount’s arrival, Murtough said: “Mason is an extremely intelligent footballer and has so many fantastic technical qualities that will significantly add to our squad.

We have admired his talents for a long time, so we are delighted that he has chosen to take the next steps in his career here at Old Trafford. His style of play and attributes are a perfect fit for this squad, and we all believe that he will only improve further working with Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff.

Mason himself is a world-class player but he also has the ability to improve the players around him through his game intelligence and tactical awareness. We were particularly impressed by his strong desire to join United, and his thirst for further success, as we push to drive up our performance levels next season and beyond.”
