Liverpool's next signing already decided if Steven Gerrard steals Jordan Henderson

That may be above what Liverpool are willing to pay for a player who has only had one season of Premier League experience. Lavia was one of the shining lights in the Saints team that slipped into the Championship, though, and interest from Arsenal and Chelsea could force their hand if Henderson was to depart as Klopp would be left short of numbers.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner have all been released, while Thiago Alcantara could be heading off too if a suitable offer arrives for the Spaniard. If Henderson leaves, Klopp would be left with only Stefan Bajcetic, Curtis Jones and Fabinho as squad options in that area of the pitch.

Mac Allister and Szoboszlai offer a genuine upgrade and the pair will slot straight into the side, while Lavia offers a bright option for the future and will no doubt benefit from Klopp's nurturing presence.

The club signed Henderson when he was only 21 years of age and that turned out to be a superb capture - and Lavia could prove to be cut from the same cloth if Liverpool step up their pursuit.
