(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 29 - Milan's iconic San Siro Stadium is
to be saved from demolition, the local heritage superintendency
said Saturday.
The grade-A listed building was due to be torn down to make way
for a new ground for AC and Inter Milan.
Milan city council was unhappy at the superintendency's move,
which it said might encourage the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri
to abandon the northern city.
"If the decision is confirmed, there will be serious
consequences for the future of the new stadium and for the
diminishing possibility of teams staying in Milan," it said.
