Chelsea close to finalising another transfer in final stages of summer window

League One club Portsmouth are very close to agreeing a loan deal to sign Tino Anjorin from Chelsea, understands.

As reported earlier in the month, Pompey are very interested in signing the 21-year-old midfielder and the former Premier League club are now close to agreeing a deal. Anjorin spent last season and half of the campaign before at Championship side Huddersfield Town but injuries restricted his playing time – meaning he featured on just 17 occasions in all competitions, where he scored three goals and provided one assist.

Despite interest from elsewhere in England, France, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Scotland in Anjorin, it looks like Fratton Park will be his destination for the season. At 21 and still having two years remaining on his contract at Chelsea, Anjorin is still very highly rated at the club and is viewed as the type of profile they wish to develop.

However, that will be elsewhere this season with such immense competition amongst Mauricio Pochettino's squad. Anjorin is set to move to Portsmouth until January at least and then the youngster will consider his options.

But right now, it makes sense for Anjorin to move and play some football with the transfer window in its final stages. A deal should be confirmed in the very near future, with understanding it is all but done.

Portsmouth are currently seventh in the League One table after their opening five matches of the season. The side, managed by John Mousinho, who joined the club at the start of the year.
