Manchester United are interested in signing Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella this summer, according to a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
It comes as the Red Devils look to add another option to their defensive ranks, following an announcement on Luke Shaw stating that the left-back is set to miss a number of games through injury. With Tyrell Malacia also sidelined, the Old Trafford side had to field Diego Dalot on the left.
The concerns have seen them enter the market for another option in the backline, with Cucurella the latest name to be linked. Erik ten Hag is claimed to be keen on a loan move for the Spaniard, with contact made over the possibility, but no bid or talks held as of yet.
United are believed to be keen on adding a left-back, but without spending big in the final days of the summer transfer window. For Cucurella, it would mark a huge shift in how the past year or two has developed for him in his career, having shone for Brighton in his time there.
It led to a move worth up to £62millionto Stamford Bridge, with many hoping he could offer something at both left-back and as a left-sided centre-back in a back three. However, it became clear after a while that the fit simply didn't work as a number of high profile errors led to the fans losing patience.

While signed before his arrival, Cucurella's association with Graham Potter may not have helped, given the fact he soon became an unpopular figure as results turned. After a while, the 25-year-old fell out of favour and since the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino, he is yet to start a game in the Premier League.
With his future likely to lie away from Chelsea, it remains to be seen whether the approach from a rival such as Manchester United will see a deal considered.
