Mazzone was icon of Italian soccer says Gravina

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 19 - Former Ascoli, Roma and Brescia manager Carlo Mazzone, who died Saturday at the age of 86, was a true icon of Italian soccer, Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) President Gabriele Gravina said in tribute to the much-loved figure.
    "We salute a full-blown icon of Italian football, a man animated by deep values and principles, a well-prepared, courageous and passionate coach," said Gravina.
    "He invented a unique style personifying seriousness and humanity at the same time.
    "We will not forget him".
    FIGC has ordered a minute's silence before this weekend's Serie A opening fixtures in honour of Mazzone. (ANSA).
