Ange Postecoglou has shuffled his pack for Tottenham's Carabao Cup second round tie against Fulham on Tuesday evening. Achieving seven points from a possible nine in the Premier League so far, the Australian will be looking to maintain his impressive start to life at Spurs by guiding his team through to the third round of the cup competition.
Admitting after Saturday's win at Bournemouth that he would make changes to his starting XI, players such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso and Ivan Perisic have all come into the side following a total of nine alterations. That as a result has seen the likes of Cristian Romero, James Maddison and Son Heung-min get a breather on the bench.
Naming Fraser Forster in goal, Postecoglou's Spurs backline comprises of Emerson Royal, Davinson Sanchez, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies, who captains the side. Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Lo Celso are his midfield trio, with Manor Solomon and Perisic starting either side of Richarlison in attack.
Ahead of the match in west London, the 58-year-old told football.london that he is expecting a tough challenge against Marco Silva's men.
"Mate, I don’t know. I haven’t had great luck with draws in my whole career, to be fair. I kind of expect them to be challenging ones. But that’s all right, it’s a good challenge for us," he explained when he was asked about coming up against a Premier League side in round two.
"Like I said, there’s a group of players who are ready to play. It’s a great opportunity to get them out there, they’ve been working hard in training. It’s a cup competition, we know we’ve got to go there and win. That’s what we’re going to try to do."
