Aaron Ramsdale for England number one?

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has heaped praise on Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, admitting he has the potential to give England boss Gareth Southgate a headache over who should be The Three Lions' number one going forward.

Speaking about England's 3-1 victory against Scotland, McCoist told talkSport: "Has Gareth [Southgate] given himself a pleasant problem last night or will he be delighted with Ramsdale? There’s a lot of clamour now for Ramsdale to be number one.”

He added: “He was absolutely terrific with the ball at his feet. I’m not sure [Jordan] Pickford’s done an awful lot to lose his position. So, it’s going to be an interesting one moving forward.”

Ousmane Diomande transfer latest

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have admired Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande for some time, although the Gunners will face stiff competition for the Ivory Coast international.

“Arsenal, meanwhile, have been linked strongly with Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande by the Portuguese press,” Romano told Caught Offside. “I’m told he’s a player they’ve been tracking for a long time, but it’s not only Arsenal.

"There are three or four clubs monitoring Diomande for the future, but it was never a negotiation this summer as he wasn’t for sale."
