Brennan Johnson completes deadline day Tottenham transfer from Nottingham Forest

Tottenham have completed the deadline day signing of Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest. The Wales international has penned a long-term deal until 2029 in north London and will wear the number 22 shirt.

Johnson arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for £47.5m, with no add-ons, after spending his whole career in the Midlands. After breaking into the Forest first team in 2021, the 22-year-old scored 29 goals and registered 12 assists in 109 appearances for the Reds.

Last season, his eight goals and three assists helped keep Forest in the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship. He has started the opening three games of the 2023/24 season.

Chelsea and Brentford were credited with interest in the Wales international earlier in the window, but Spurs have won the race to sign him before tonight's deadline.

Johnson becomes signing number nine of the summer in north London following the arrivals of James Maddison, Micky van den Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Alejo Veliz and Ashley Phillips. Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski also made their initial loan moves permanent earlier in the window.
