Palmer tells Pochettino his best position

Cole Palmer has told Mauricio Pochettino the two positions which suit him best after signing for Chelsea. In his first interview with the club website as a Blue, the England Under-21 international said: "I played left-back when I was Under-10.

"Then I played midfield. Then later right wing, left wing, and striker. I made my first start at City as a striker. So I have played all along the frontline, but right wing and no.10 are my best two positions, I would say.

"I played 10 most of the time in the academy, and in the past three years I’ve mainly played on the right wing. But I’m ready to help the team wherever I’m needed."

Lukaku snubbed

Ahead of Chelsea's clash against Nottingham Forest, Mauricio Pochettino was asked if he's disappointed that Romelu Lukaku couldn't be reintegrated back into the club. The Blues boss didn't pull any punches and insisted that the Belgian had always made it clear that he wanted to leave Stamford Bridge.

"No, because the situation was so clear and I did not create any expectation in my mind," said Pochettino. "Always the club was clear, what I hear through the club, that the player wanted to leave, I believe that. The circumstances were clear."

Pochettino reacts to Sterling snub

Mauricio Pochettino has broken his silence on Raheem Sterling's snub from the most recent England call-up. The 28-year-forward was omitted from the Three Lions squad despite his impressive performances for Chelsea this season.

"For me, all of my players deserve the best," said the Argentine. "I'm not going to say anything against the manager involved in the national teams. What we want to provide is better tools and we are going to push even more the players that cannot get the call from the national team and next month have the possibility.

"All we want to do is push Raheem more to try to convince the manager and I am sure he is going to work and it will be a motivation for the next month. He needs to keep going working, keep scoring, assisting and helping the team to win."

Chelsea complete double transfer exit after Tottenham fail in £100m swoop

Tottenham failed to sign both Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah on deadline day. Chelsea valued both players at around £50million, but Spurs were unable to sanction a move for either player after failing to move on fringe players of their own.

Meanwhile, the Blues confirmed the exits of Callum Hudson-Odoi to Nottingham Forest and Mason Burstow on loan to Sunderland. Diego Moreira left the club to join Lyon on a season-long loan deal after only signing for Chelsea this summer from Benfica.
