Colwill reveals Lallana advice

Levi Colwill has revealed that Adam Lallana persuaded him to stay at Chelsea despite interest from Liverpool. As quoted by the Mirror, the 20-year-old defender said: "I have had conversations with Adam and he told me about how much of a good guy he (Mauricio Pochettino) was and he thinks he is a really good manager and I took that on board when I was making my decision.

"When I finally met him (Pochettino), I realised everything Adam said was true. He (Pochettino) is a great manager, really makes me feel comfortable and allows me to play my best game.

"I think with him at the club, it has changed so much and now we want to kick on. I think the big thing for me is, on the first day I came in, putting an arm around me and showing me that he respects me as a person and also as a player."

Chelsea tipped to sign Ferguson

Owen Hargreaves has backed Chelsea to leapfrog the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Evan Ferguson. Speaking on The Kelly & Wrighty Show following Brighton's win over Newcastle before the international break, he said: "That was against the best defence in the Premier League last season.

"Dan Burn looked very worried about Ferguson. I like the fact that all three goals were different. The first one was an easy one, he was in the right spot. The second was a great goal. He’s a bit of an old school centre-forward, he’s got that physical profile."

Then, when the former Manchester United midfielder was asked which club the striker will join next, he named the west London outfit as the most likely destination. Hargreaves said: "Probably Chelsea because they buy all of Brighton’s players."

Olise lifeline

Chelsea have been given a major boost to their hopes of signing Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace star was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, but a transfer collapsed after he decided to pen a new long-term deal at Selhurst Park instead.

According to the Evening Standard, Olise has a new release clause in his contract which becomes active next summer. The report states that the release clause is 'significantly higher', although the exact figure is currently unknown.

It's said that Palace also rewarded Olise with a substantial increase on his previous wage, which was reportedly in the region of £45,000-a-week.
