Ange Postecoglou proved right on bold triple Tottenham decision after Burnley thrashing

Tottenham delivered another statement performance as Ange Postecoglou's men battered Burnley 5-2 at Turf Moor. Spurs' back-to-back 2-0 wins against Manchester United and Bournemouth were tainted slightly by the Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Fulham, but that disheartening defeat was quickly forgotten about in Lancashire.

The game did get off to the worst possible start for Spurs though with Lyle Foster putting the hosts in front after just four minutes. However, captain Son Heung-min netted his first of the season with a delightful chip over James Trafford after being played through by Manor Solomon.

Cristian Romero then emphatically put Spurs in front with a fierce effort from the edge of the box which flew in off the post, but it was in the second half where Spurs really turned on the style. James Maddison, who had been running the show, got on the scoresheet next before Son scored twice in three minutes to complete his hat-trick with Josh Brownhill netting a late consolation goal.

Despite the added time effort from Brownhill which made the scoreline slightly less impressive, it did not take the gloss of the dominant performance from Spurs. Each player given minutes played their role in the triumph, but it was the notable contributions of a select three that left a lasting impression on Postecoglou.

What Ian Wright said about Postecoglou's Tottenham to make Gary Lineker and Jermaine Jenas laugh

Tottenham have started the new Premier League season well. Very well indeed.

The football on display by Ange Postecoglou's team has left Spurs fans, and the wider football community to be fair, salivating. After a number of years of more pragmatic football under the likes of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, Postecoglou's approach has been a breath of fresh air at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Four games in, Spurs are unbeaten, winning three and drawing one, scoring 11 goals, conceding four. they are only kept off the top of the Premier League table by virtue of Manchester City's 100% record - unsurprisingly.

The latest result for Postecoglou's Spurs came at Turf Moor, where Tottenham ran out comfortable 5-2 winners over newcomers Burnley, that despite going a goal down inside the first four minutes.
