Ange Postecoglou handed huge Tottenham blow vs Luton as Yves Bissouma sent off

Ange Postecoglou was handed a late blow in the first-half for Tottenham after midfielder Yves Bissouma was sent off for a second yellow card.

The Mali international has been one of the top performers in the league so far this season but let his side down in added time at the end of the first 45, picking up his second booking of the game for a dive on the edge of the Luton box.

After dominating the game Spurs went into the break somehow not leading and will now need to plan not only for the rest of the game without Bissouma but also for at least one game afterwards. Bissouma had already ensured he was suspended for the next game against Fulham on October 23 after getting a fifth yellow of the season.

Now it waits to be seen if any extra punishment will follow after being sent off as well after picking up his second yellow card. It is an unusual occurrence in the circumstances and could see Bissouma remain on four yellow cards after serving his suspension for the red card.

Bissouma had already entered the game on a tightrope heading into the international break with four yellow cards but will now leave his manager a giant headache moving forward. He has started every game so far this season, forming a key relationship with Pape Matar Sarr in the heart of the pitch.

Postecoglou turned to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at half-time as he looked to fill the void of Bissouma on the pitch. It was only pre-game that Peter Crouch and Rio Ferdinand had discussed Bissouma as a potential player of the season.
