Arsenal have three ways to solve Thomas Partey injury concern before Chelsea London derby clash

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is facing a few injury questions in the next week as his side prepare for their London derby with fierce rivals Chelsea. While Jurrien Timber is a long-term absentee, there are concerns over Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and William Saliba at the moment.

All three had to withdraw from their respective nation's international squads, though it appears as though their injuries aren't long-term or serious. With a two-week break, it could give some time to get the stars back in training and up to speed in time for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

One player who was far less lucky in leaving the international scene was Thomas Partey, who has only recently return from an injury himself. Featuring for Ghana against Mexico on Sunday morning, the midfielder only completed 45 minutes of action, sparking fears of another absence.

At this stage, it seems uncertain if Black Stars boss Chris Hughton made a tactical tweak or if there is a bigger problem at hand for Partey. However, if he does prove to be out for the clash with Chelsea, there will have to be some decisions made over the team chosen by Arteta.

With that said, here's a look at a few options available to the manager if the worst does happen from the Partey injury concern this week.

A familiar look

Arteta could look to continue his momentum from the Manchester City game and field a midfield three of Jorginho, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. The trio did well to deny the champions any time on the ball, working extremely hard out of possession while having control too.

Reverting to the start

The head coach could also look to move back towards the changes he made at the start of the season, where he started a midfield that included Rice, Odegaard and Kai Havertz. While there were questions over the balance, the manager has said it's all about chemistry and playing with one another many times and this could be an opportunity to do so again.

A fresh switch

While it seems likely that Rice and Odegaard definitely keep their places, given their impact on the team, there could be some changes in the third spot. Jorginho and Havertz have been mentioned, while Fabio Vieira's return from injury could also add some ability to that role.

There's also the possibility of a fresh experiment, which may involve playing Emile Smith Rowe in that role, where he could thrive as he struggles for minutes on the wing.
