Arsenal's next transfer priority revealed as Edu plans important move

Arsenal are planning talks with talented youngster Amario Cozier-Duberry regarding a new contract, according to recent reports. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the north London club are keen to tie Cozier-Duberry to a new deal, with the teenage winger's current contract set to expire next summer.

Writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), Romano said: "Understand Arsenal are planning talks with Amario Cozier-Duberry over a new deal in the next weeks/months as his contract will expire on 30th June 2024. Discussions are currently ongoing.

"Several Premier League & European clubs are interested, monitoring the situation." The Gunners have a wealth of options on the left wing and at centre-forward, with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah all on their books.

However, the right flank is much shorter of possibilities. In fact, Bukayo Saka is the only out-and-out right right winger in the first-team squad.

The England international had played 87 successive Premier League games, a club record, before eventually missing the 1-0 victory against Manchester City earlier this month. But Mikel Arteta may have a solution from the Hale End academy in the form of the aforementioned Cozier-Duberry.

The 18-year-old, like Saka, is left-footed and loves to cut in from the right flank on his favoured side. Considering the way Arteta sets up his team with inverted wingers, it makes perfect sense to keep Cozier-Duberry at the club and bring him through as a potential rotation option for Saka.

Cozier-Duberry boasts some impressive numbers at youth level as well, netting 13 goals and providing a further ten assists across all competitions since the start of the 2022/23 campaign. Arsenal fans will be hoping that sporting director Edu can get a new contract for the youngster over the line sooner rather than later. Arsenal WhatsApp channel
