Arsenal continued their impressive start to the 2023/24 Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday. Gabriel Martinelli's deflected strike off Nathan Ake handed the Gunners their first league win over the Citizens since 2015.

Mikel Arteta's men have now won six of their first eight league games and are level on points with north London rivals Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table. Plaudits will go to Martinelli for his winner but William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes deserve credit for their displays to keep Erling Haaland quiet.

The win is another statement of intent by Arsenal after falling short towards the end of last season. Confidence will now be flowing throughout Arteta's squad, especially after they fell to three consecutive defeats to City last season.

And following the milestone win over City, many players have been reacting to the win over social media. Martinelli posted three images of his celebration with a caption reading "MOMENTS LIKE THIS" while Bukayo Saka, who missed the game due to injury, shared the Brazilian's post, writing: "He's back".

Centre-back partners Saliba and Gabriel both posted on Instagram, also. Saliba, who was forced to withdraw from the France squad due to injury, wrote: "A win and a clean sheet to go into the break. Thank you for your incredible support Gooners". Gabriel added: "BIG WIN!!! Thank you God."

Kai Havertz and Eddie Nketiah both posted pictures of the celebrations whilst Gabriel Jesus credited the "amazing team performance." Midfielder Declan Rice, who had one of his best games for the club, added: "Happy Sunday."
