Every word Mauricio Pochettino said on Chelsea, Raheem Sterling, competition and injury impact

Chelsea head into the international break 4-1 victors over Burnley and in a much better mood than a month previous having recorded three wins in a row. Raheem Sterling inspired the west London side to a comprehensive win as he had a hand in all four goals as the Blues came back from a goal behind on Saturday afternoon.

Sterling will take the headlines but Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson also got on the scoresheet to ensure Mauricio Pochettino could face the media in high spirits at Turf Moor. He discussed Sterling's performance, Chelsea's momentum and what his plans were for the international break.

Raheem Sterling was involved in every goal. How good is he?

It's his job, no? To play well. All players try to play well and today he was well. He was involved in the goals and I am so happy for him and so happy for the team. The team was good, the performance was fantastic, they deserve the praise. So happy for them and go to the international break with a different feeling to the last.

Does this win do more for the team after coming from behind?

Yes, of course. When you concede first and then you need to break down the opponent, you feel proud when you achieve that. I think the team was playing well and we concede the first situation, that we concede a chance and that was unfair but the team was really good. We were solid in the whole team and we scored before the end of the first half which always helps a little bit in your belief for the second half we controlled the game.

Starting to see what you want from the team?

Yes, of course. I was telling you when we lost some games against Nottingham Forest and West Ham that we are building something. We are a young group. We are a young team, it doesn't mean we have signed young players or experienced players, we're together and what happened in the summer, it's about a matter of time. We were performing very well but of course players and individuals improve to add to the team, a bit of quality. That is only with time to know each other and to start to perform. We start to recover players now because we suffered too many injuries, also it's going to help the team increase the level and the competition will be tough. Then it will be tough for me to select an XI but it is a thing I love to do and I hope it happens soon.

How confident are you that you can keep everyone happy?

Always in football, it is about performance and players need to feel that they deserve to play. If we want to be consistent and fight for big things it's about being consistent every single game and that will be good with competition between them. We have a very talented squad but at the moment, for different reasons and circumstances, we cannot use all of the potential of the squad. Some bad luck against us in some situations but with time to be in the position we want to be. With the players fit, it will be massive competition and it will be good for the team to keep the level that we need to fight for big things.

Do you think Raheem has a point to prove?

I think he deserves and he is a player that knows he needs to perform and show the manager of the national team that he was wrong in his decision. Only with performance and scoring goals is he going to show that he deserves to go, nothing in between When you are not involved with the squad like he was out, it's about to show that you deserve. With performance is the only way to show that.

What are your plans for the international break?

To improve players, try to recover players from injury in two weeks, we're going to spend working in the training ground. Of course different mood from the last time, last month. With a victory, it is much better. I think pushing, keep pushing and working hard to try and be better.
