James Maddison makes Marco Silva joke amid Sky error after Tottenham vs Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison was in a playful mood during his post-game interview following his side's 2-0 victory over Fulham on Monday evening. Spurs enjoyed a fairly convincing performance on the night thanks to a first-half goal from captain Son Heung-min that was followed up by a clinical finish from Maddison shortly after the break.

After the full-time whistle, the England international was speaking to Sky Sports but there were some technical difficulties. "I can actually hear Marco Silva's interview in my ear now," Maddison said when asked a question by host Dave Jones.

When Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher asked what Silva was saying, Maddison then joked: " I think he’s saying Maddison’s goal was excellent. " The former Leicester City playmaker has enjoyed an excellent start to the 2023/24 campaign, now sitting on three goals and five assists from just nine Premier League outings.

That impressive form has helped the Lillywhites to an unbeaten start to the season, with Ange Postecoglou's men now two points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal, who are second and third respectively. Next up for Tottenham is an away fixture against Crystal Palace on Friday evening before a London Derby against Chelsea on Monday, November 6.

Monday's effort against the Cottagers was the first time that Maddison found the back of the net at home since joining Spurs in the summer and the 26-year-old admitted after the game that he was relieved to get off the mark in N17. "I’m really happy," he admitted.

"All of my goal contributions have been away from home and I keep seeing the stats popping up about it. It’s nice to get off the mark here with a convincing performance and a solid win that puts us back of the table, so I’m relatively happy."
