Latest Arsenal injury news as three miss Sheffield United with Gabriel Jesus and Partey blow

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United.

Both players became injury concerns for the weekend in mid-week following the Gunners' UEFA Champions League win over Sevilla in Spain. Jesus was forced off with a hamstring injury having put in a Man of the Match display - scoring and assisting.

Despite telling reporters of his optimism of the injury, understands that the Brazilian is unlikely to feature at the weekend following Arteta's pre-match press conference. "Yeah, again, the scan showed that there is a muscle injury and we might lose him for a few weeks again," he said.

He added: "With Gabby I cannot give you any timeframe as he always surprises us."

Partey missed the win in Spain altogether after the club confirmed he had sustained a muscle injury. The Ghanaian is also expected to miss the weekend's fixture after picking up the latest injury problem in training.

Speaking on Partey's chances of making the Saturday's match, Arteta said: "He's got a muscle injury and we expect him to be out for a few weeks. He picked up that injury with the last kick of the ball so it is very unfortunate."

It's expected that Eddie Nketiah and Jorginho will be the apparent replacements for Jesus and Partey. Arsenal's busy calendar sees them in action five times in the next 15 days.

Jurrien Timber is the only long-term absentee at London Colney. The summer signing sustained an ACL injury in the opening day win over Nottingham Forest and is expected to miss the majority of the season. Arsenal WhatsApp channel
