Paul Merson and Chris Sutton agree on Chelsea vs Brentford winner amid huge Cole Palmer claim

Chelsea will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten streak to five games this weekend when they face Brentford in Premier League action. Prior to last weekend's clash against Arsenal, the Blues had beaten Brighton, Fulham and Burnley to take Mauricio Pochettino's side back into the top half of the table following a difficult start.

Up next is another London derby, this time against Brentford where Pochettino will be hoping the good form continues. Injury issues are still plaguing Chelsea in places, however Reece James and Benoit Badiashile were both welcomed back into the matchday squad last Saturday, with starts for both a possibility.

With the Blues in action on Saturday lunchtime, a victory could see them rise as high as eighth, above Manchester United and West Ham, before they play on Sunday. The Bees took four points from Chelsea last season which included a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, however both Paul Merson and Chris Sutton are not expecting a repeat from the previous campaign.

"Chelsea were rolling the other day - they were comfortably the better team than Arsenal for 75 minutes of that contest," Merson wrote in his Sportskeeda predictions column. "Robert Sanchez has a rush of blood which led to Declan Rice's goal and suddenly, Arsenal restored parity and looked like they'd get a late winner.

"That said, if you takeaway the last 15 minutes, Chelsea dominated that game and looked like they'd keep their winning run goal with a statement result. I fancy them to beat Brentford comfortably, so I'm going for a 2-0 win. I said it when they signed him that Cole Palmer was a good player and he has shown in recent weeks that he's very much a player for the present and the future. He can unlock defences as he's used to training like that at Manchester City and has done really well in recent weeks."

In his BBC Sport predictions column, Sutton said: "Sophia has gone with Chelsea to edge this one, and I think that's a good shout. Brentford ended a six-game winless streak by beating Burnley last time out, but I feel Chelsea are improving every week.

"They haven't cracked it yet under Mauricio Pochettino, but they are getting there. They were probably the better team for most of their game with Arsenal last weekend, and ended up being disappointed with a draw. I'm going to go with Chelsea but, every time I do that, they seem to to find a way of stuffing it up. Brentford are exactly the type of team who could upset them too, so I am fully expecting to get this one wrong."

Sutton's prediction: 2-1
