Chelsea tipped to sign Man Utd outcast and £128m superstar in January transfer window

The summer transfer window was as hectic as you would expect, and for Chelsea it was another window filled with big spending and sad goodbyes. The Blues welcomed 11 new faces whilst seeing 14 players leave the club permanently, including farewells to Cesar Azpilcueta, Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante.

The revolving door of players coming and going has potentially been a reason for Chelsea ’s rather uninspiring start to the Premier League, with only three league wins recorded so far and defeats to Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Brentford leaving a dark cloud over the club.

As for the new signings, Nicolas Jackson has been backed by Mauricio Pochettino, despite struggling to meet the fast-paced demands of the Premier League yet. Whilst the Argentinian boss has seemed to help Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling find some form, after a tough first season in London.

With constant injuries also causing problems for Chelsea, January might be an opportunity to dip into the transfer market again and football.london have put a list together of players tipped, by SkyBet as potential new signings.

Victor Osimhen 8/1

Chelsea’s goalscoring problems that haunted the club last campaign, seemed to have arisen again throughout this season which makes a new striker a priority on Chelsea transfer list, and there are few better the Osimhen.

The Nigerian was ruthless last season as he guided Napoli to the Serie A crown, and has continued into the new season scoring six goals in eight leagues. His range of finishing and intelligent movement would provide the Blues with a cutting edge upfront, something they have been missing since Diego Costa’s dramatic departure in 2018.

Chelsea are the current front runners for his signature at 8/1, but Arsenal and the Saudi Pro League could also be plausible destinations for the Nigerian striker as well, at 10/1 and 12/1 respectively.

Jadon Sancho 3/1

As Sancho’s former Borussia Dortmund teammates, Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland collected awards at Ballon D’or ceremony on Monday night, the English forward continues to train away from Man United’s first team.

This was after a well-publicised falling out with Erik ten Hag, which looks to have put an end to his career with the club, and resulted in the likelihood of a move away from Manchester. Sancho has struggled to recreate the exciting from he showed as a promising talent in Germany, here in his homeland but Chelsea at 3/1 look most likely to take a risk on the 23-year-old.

His talent is clear and maybe a move to his home city will be able to rekindle his form, but Juventus, Barcelona and Dortmund are all keeping an eye on the Englishman’s situation.

David De Gea 16/1

Last season’s Premier League Golden Glove winner is still without a club, after his 12-year spell in Manchester came to an end. Inter Milan’s Andre Onana was bought in as the replacement, and the Spaniard has yet to find club deep into the new season.

In amongst Chelsea’s 11 new faces, two goalkeepers were signed in the spaces left by the departed Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Robert Sanchez has filled the main spot as Chelsea’s number one, with Djordje Petrovic as the back-up.

With this in mind, and the 16/1 odds it would be a surprise to see the former United shot stopper arrive at Stamford Bridge, and with his former club being the most likely destination for De Gea at 5/6, De Gea’s unemployment won’t last long.
