Declan Rice reveals how Arsenal dressing room reacted to Mikel Arteta's angry VAR rant

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has praised head coach Mikel Arteta for his animated sideline antics. Arteta was left furious last week when his side were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle United, with Anthony Gordon's goal controversial, to say the least.

VAR checked Gordon's goal for three potential offences before it was eventually awarded. After the full-time whistle, Arteta let his feelings on the officiating known.

"We have to talk about the result because you have to talk about how the hell this goal stand ups and it’s incredible", the Spaniard said. "I feel embarrassed but I have to be the one now coming here to try to defend the club and please ask for help, because it's an absolute disgrace that this goal is allowed; it’s an absolute disgrace."

Now, Gunners record-signing Rice has had his say on Arteta's theatrics, admitting he and the other players are big fans. When asked about the Arsenal boss' passion, the England international said, via 90min: "We love it.

"I think you see how passionate he is. He sometimes gets criticised for how he is on the sidelines, but he is living the game through us.

"He's so energetic and the way he speaks, he's like a teacher the way he is in the changing room with us and that really fires us up for the game and I think that's what he's really good at." Arsenal WhatsApp channel
