Is Bukayo Saka fit to start for Arsenal vs Burnley? Injury news latest and FPL update

[ WATCH TV LIVE ]

Arsenal are hoping to have Bukayo Saka available for the Premier League clash against Burnley this weekend. The Gunners are looking to return to winning ways in domestic competition following defeats to West Ham and Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta's side moved one step closer towards qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds after winning 2-0 against Sevilla on Wednesday night. However, Arsenal were dealt with yet another injury concern ahead of the November international break.

Eddie Nketiah was ruled out of action after suffering a knock on his ankle, before Saka - who registered a goal and an assist against Sevilla - had to be withdrawn as he limped off at the Emirates Stadium. The England international had been subjected to a physical approach from the Spanish outfit, getting kicked and fouled numerous times.

With just minutes remaining, the 22-year-old went down after an awkward landing following a challenge for a header. After initial treatment from physios he tried to carry on before eventually having to be replaced by Jakub Kiwior a few minutes later.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta revealed that he was hopeful of positive news on the Saka's fitness. "It was just a kick and I was told by the physios on the radio he wasn't happy to continue," he said.

"So he will have some discomfort but hopefully I am going to assume he will be OK," Arteta added. The Arsenal boss is expected to deliver a fresh update on Saka this afternoon in his pre-Burnley press conference.

The Arsenal superstar has been selected for England duty which may hint that he is fit and available to play this weekend - before linking up with the rest of Gareth Southgate's squad.

Will Bukayo Saka be fit to face Burnley in gameweek 12?

The short answer at this stage is that we don't know. Arteta is clearly hopeful that Saka will be available given the injury problems he is facing in his squad.

The Gunners could be without Eddie Nketiah once again, while Gabriel Jesus continues to recover from his own injury issues. Leandro Trossard is expected to start at striker for a second consecutive game after scoring against Sevilla earlier this week.

For FPL managers its not likely to be much help in selecting their squads. Saka is currently owned by 50 per cent of managers and so there is a huge concern about the Arsenal star's fitness ahead of the international break.

Managers may decide to move to Gabriel Martinelli instead, but it may be worth sticking with Saka depending on Arteta's update on the 22-year-old later today.
